Also, it's not that she wants to be alone. Shionne has a physical ailment that pushes away everyone else to the point her prickliness is not only understandable but becoming anything other than that would be illogical. But having her prickliness stem from her thorns makes it feel more real than other tsundere types. And he has a moment in the middle where he gets stuck in an emotional rut and was literally doing nothing but self doubt and needed everyone else to snap him out of it. But he fell into that after Zephyr so it feels like he's more trying to live up to someone else's expectations. Alphen is basically a "i want to save everyone" shonen protagonist. But they also have things that make them feel more human/developed. Most of the mains in Arise are trope of some sort. I was even going "Law.you might be a bit old for her" when the romance was implied( predicted he was 17-18. Between her mannerisms and her going on about 'dumb boys' I had pegged her between 8-10, pre-middle school. But Rinwell reminds me of a really immature child. Her behavior really reminds me of a child. Frankly, a lot of elements in the Almeidria section feels very rushed and unfinished. So it didn't feel like someone who was on the verge of being consumed by vengeance and more like a child having a tantrum. And honestly, the performance didn't sell it either. She seemed more sad than angry or vengeful. And nothing seemed to hint at any sort of lingering darkness in Rinwell before or after. It lasts like two cutscenes and then vanishes without a trace. But this ones feels even more half baked than normal. As a result, I tend to like these subplots more than other people do. Now, I like character descents into darkness, even if temporary. A person wants revenge, then a someone else stops them saying they'll lose themselves, then the person says they're putting revenge aside. I'll get more into that later but one of which is the cliche revenge plot. It seems to be widely agreed Arise really drinks the anime cliche kool aid. Or when Rinwell asks if they've seen everything and Law's answer is exactly the same as everyone else's but Rinwell acts like he's a thumb-sucking child. But Rinwell shrugs him off like he went for the lowest common denominator answer before spitting out an answer that is pure speculation. As does his answer of all that room for the equipment and tech. But if your goal is to oppress a populace then intimidation makes sense. Since this is a big robot people need to work alongside that could kill someone because the pilot trips, we aim to make ours as friendly/cool looking as possible. My job in real life actually involves designing these things and Law's answer is perfectly valid. Same with the question regarding Renan power armor. It wasn't the most eloquent way of asking but it's a fair question as were his follow ups. Like when Law asks about Rinwell's incantations. I know a lot of people feel Law gets an undeserved amount of bullying (a sentiment I agree with) but Rinwell seems to deliver it the most.įor another, she seems to carry this air of arrogance especially with Law. ![]() Imagine if someone asks you to give them your dog's sheddings so they can make a pillow out of it. It wasn't like Doholim was asking Rinwell to pluck feathers from Hootle's body. She got specifically offended because he asked for Hoot's molt, the feathers that fall out naturally. But she wasn't like "Oh, take that pillow and shove it up yer arse" or anything like that. Maybe this isn't the best example because she had her bigotry against Renans. One is when Doholim asked for Hootle's molt and she got really offended. I can't go through all the skits but a few stand out in my mind. Rinwell was pretty in the middle of the poll.įor one, she is needlessly argumentative. Even in game, I never put her in my main party unless I was desperate for lightning or wind elements. The rest of them were great but I didn't like her. That's when I realized I REALLY don't like Rinwell. And I stumbled across a poll asking for everyone's favorite character. I've been looking around to get a feel on how everyone feels about it and if I should check out the rest of the series. I just finished Tales of Arise which is my introduction to the Tales series (well, I am watching the Zesteria anime.
